A Change of Season

The end of the season at Sunrise is bittersweet. While we face the inevitable process of shutdown, we enjoy looking back on all the fun that was had during the past four months. This season, Mother Nature delivered 248 inches of snowfall creating mint skiing and riding conditions at Killington along with setting up a white and fluffy playground Outback at Fallsbrook; This allowed homeowners and their guests to enjoy the full winter experience that our facility has to offer.

SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

As always, the Sunrise Café brought its ‘A’ game. Alongside hosting the charming New Year’s Eve Ball Drop, the café closed its regular menu on several occasions to bring a change of taste to the community; they hosted an Italian buffet, a smokehouse BBQ buffet and catered dinner at our Annual Spring Fling. The Sunrise Café staff thanks you for your continued support and is looking forward to serving you next ski season!

After a not so wintry winter last season, it was clear that you, our homeowners, were grateful for this year’s bountiful snowfall. When you weren’t skiing/riding Killington trails, you were Outback at Fallsbrook backcountry skiing, snowshoeing, ice-skating, and sledding. All of the activity inspired us to introduce three new solar trails, extending your backcountry adventures into the night! These new looped trails are softly lit by solar beacons that guide you through the woods; if you didn’t get a chance to explore them this year, definitely check them out next winter.

Back by popular demand, dog sled rides were hosted at Sunrise during President’s week. The ear-to-ear smiles on all who attended proved that this event is undoubtedly a good time. It really is a special treat to be able to experience the timeless activity of dog sledding, yet alone, right in your own backyard.

The final event of the season was the Annual Sunrise Spring Fling. This year, we amped up our food game, providing a full spread that was prepared by the Sunrise Café. Homeowners and friends of the community mingled while listening to the unique sound of Bow Thayer, a local folk/rock musician. It was great seeing everyone-if you missed it, we hope to see you at the next one!
