Memories of One Year Ago

Last year Vermont experienced one its worst natural disasters. Though the effects of Tropical Storm Irene are still being felt through most of Vermont today, much has been accomplished and the “sense of community” has never been stronger. The struggle of recovery, while not as obvious as before, does continue on many levels. Promised FEMA money to Vermont communities and individuals has yet to be fully dispersed, roads and bridges are still being fixed, neighbors are still in need, and there are businesses no longer in operation.

However, it’s been  an amazing transformation within one short year. Below are some pictures of East Mountain and Bear Mountain Roads taken a year ago. Next time you drive to Sunrise, think of all the work that was done to get you here.
