Booting Up: Namaste Style!
February 4, 2021 /
Since parking reservations are required on weekends and holidays only, parking midweek at any of the Killington lots is easy! Although many of you boot up in your unit and ski to the Sunrise Triple or Sky Peak Express Quad, there may be occasions when you want to start your day on the Killington side of the mountain or explore another Vermont ski resort. The thought of booting up in your car or SUV may be simpler and more comfortable than you realize. Just remember to pack these useful essentials.

- Get a large piece of heavy waterproof fabric to drape over the muddy, slushy bumper of your vehicle. Now you and your ski buddy can sit and lean down to put your boots on and off without getting the seat of your ski pants wet. I use a large piece of Cordura® fabric, which is commonly used for outdoor equipment, and can be purchased at most fabric stores. Go for the 60” width to fit across the tailgate. It is also machine washable/dryable.
- Do you practice yoga? Do you have an old yoga mat in your closet? It is the perfect “carpet” to lay down in front of the open trunk/tailgate. Its long enough and wide enough to keep your feet dry while booting up and de-booting. Plus, they do not absorb water! When you are done, shake it out, roll it up, and tuck it away in your trunk.
- Bring a collapsible chair that takes up a little more room than a rolled-up yoga mat. When the spring temperatures arrive, hanging out in a camp chair on your colorful yoga mat will make you the envy of any tailgate party.
- I think this item is a no-brainer! Bring a cooler filled with après-ski beverages and snacks. You may want to share your cooler with a few of your ski buddies. Social distancing does not mean social incompetence. We can all enjoy our friends’ company at a distance.
