How Sweet It Is!

All trails at Killington are open! The coverage is great! Come up and ski and ride! The forecast is for more snow from Saturday through Friday the 19th! Who needs a box of chocolates for Valentine’s Day when you can get a 6-inch snowstorm instead!

Besides Valentine’s Day, (one of my favorite days) it is also President’s Weekend at Killington. That means the slopes will be busier than normal, so please be safe on the slopes. Safety tip: When stopping on a trail please park on the side of the trail in a visible location. Stopping in the middle of the trail makes you and your group prime targets for out-of-control skiers and riders! When you depart, look uphill because the uphill skier does have right of way to pass by you, then merge to make your awesome turns.

Regarding “choice trails”, the groomers will be out in full force this weekend to blanket the trails with first-class corduroy for our carving pleasure. In fact, over 75 trails were groomed as of Thursday. For those seeking “freshies”, check out Breakaway, Thimble, Royal Flush, and Dream Maker Headwall.

Tree skiing is like a box of chocolates! You never know what is under the snow, so be aware of hidden rocks, stumps, and snow snakes (branches). My ski was snagged by a snow snake on Low Rider. Other than a short tumble downhill, no harm came to the snow snake or skier.

Have fun and be safe out there!
